Brilliant Us

Our school is a place where pupils are able to experience a whole range of lovely activities. Please find below pictures of the exciting things we get up to.

These lucky poetry enthusiasts got to go to a Poetry Slam at Dillington House this morning. They got to perform a poem, take their own poetry along and meet the famous poet A.F Harold!

We are so proud of these three children who attended the first Preston Primary Academy Trust Poetry competition this evening. All three children did so well and were so brave performing in front of a big audience. A big well done must go to Charly who came runner up in a very strong year 5/6 category!

Our incredible Green Team retained their trophy by winning the Small School Area Athletics at Huish Academy in the sunshine yesterday. The whole team ran, jumped, hurdled and threw fantastically.

Curry Mallet Primary School joined us on the 20th June for a KS1 Multiskills Festival.

Hambridge is a GOOD school! Ofsted commented that pupils ‘love their school’ and that staff ‘set high expectations for all’. We are amazingly proud of all the staff and children here at Hambridge. Thank you to all of you for making Hambridge such a wonderful school community!

The children had a brilliant day in their houses on Wednesday this week for our whole school Geography Day. The children studied Kenya, Mexico, Germany and Australia.

On the 26th April we welcomed Andrew Moffat in to our school to deliver his No Outsiders programme.

We celebrated the King's Coronation with a family picnic and Crown Competition.

Eco Club decided to organise a cake sale to raise money for the Turkey and Syria Earthquake appeal. They did really well and raised over £160 for a very deserving cause. A special thank you to all parents and children for baking a lot of the cakes which were sold.

Our wonderful choir went to Wellington School on Tuesday to take part in their Come and Sing Event. The children really enjoyed this brilliant experience and Mrs Hamm was very proud of them all.

Congratulations to Beatrice, James, Bethany, Dara and Betty on winning the in school International Day of Mathematics math comic competition on March 14th!

World Book Day 2023 - The children were asked to come to school dressed as an adjective. Can you guess which adjective they all are?

Our Eco Club ran an extremely successful book swap on World Book Day. The children loved swapping their books for new ones.

Santa came to visit and delivered some presents courtesy of FOHSA to each of our classes.

FOHSA's Christmas Jumper Day and Shopping Mall

Teddy from Pippin decided to make donations to St Margarets Hospice and The Food Bank for Christmas. What a generous gift!

The children all came together to have a yummy Christmas Lunch. The children had a brilliant time and sang along to many Christmas songs!

Last week, Discovery and Pippin delivered a fantastic performance of their Nativity. The children did so well; they spoke so clearly and sang beautifully. Well done to everyone involved!

Thank you Mrs P for our beautiful Christmas tree.

Kilve residential Day 2

We have had an awesome day. From climbing wall to abseiling to cluedo to shelter builder and grass sledging - It's been full of fun! Lots of happy (and tired) faces.

Parents - we are sorry there are less photos tonight but we are having a nightmare with the internet connection. We promise to share lots of photos with you when we return. Your children are an absolute credit to you all. What polite, fun and lovely children you have. laugh

Kilve Residential - Day 1

We have the most amazing start to our residential. Team games, getting lost in the maze, hot chocolate before bed......

All of our classes took part in a Road Safety Workshop. They were taught what road safety means and how to stay safe when they are walking or playing near a road.

Our wonderful choir took part in Wellington School's Come and Sing Event on Saturday 19th March 2022

World Book Day 2022 - Where's Wally?!

On World Book Day the children from Key Stage 1 came back to school in the evening wearing their pyjamas, for story time and a hot chocolate. Key Stage 2 came back for a reading quiz.

Mock Trial Experience Held At Perrott Hill School November 2021

Our school commemorated Remembrance Day on November 11th 2021 with a service where we listened to poetry and readings by our year 6 pupils as well as listening to a reading of In Flanders Fields (John McCrae) beautifully read to us by Wright in year 5. We all thought about why we hold the service near to the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year and how we might have hope that all wars could end one day . We also welcomed Mr Steele who played the Last Post on his trumpet and Mr Fleet who read For The Fallen by Lawrence Binyon.  All of our children were wonderfully respectful during the two minute silence which followed.

LOGAN'S HUGE PUMPKIN

                        LOGAN’S MASSIVE AUTUMN  2021 PUMPKIN

Logan from Discovery Class has grown a huge pumpkin from a seed.

It took ages to grow but was well worth the wait!

                                          Well done Logan!!

GREEN TEAM!

We have a great 'Green Team'  in year 4 and 5 who take pride in keeping the school site clean and litter free. The school looks amazing thanks to their efforts.  Well done team!

Harrison, Betsy and Sophie are just a few of the children helping with this brilliant work.

Harvest Festival Assembly

During October we were fortunate enough to enjoy a Harvest Festival Assembly and as part of this we thought about helping other less fortunate than ourselves. Our children and parents each contributed a food gift which was gratefully received by the Curry Rivel Food Bank Charity later on in the day. Our thanks goes to Mr Cottington who led our assembly and helped us all to reflect on how to help others.

Thank you to Hambridge pupils from the local foodbank

During the Harvest Assembly corn is ground in a pestle and mortar by Eddy and Felix to make flour.

Roald Dahl Day

We all had a phizz-whizzingly fun day dressing up as our favourite Roald Dahl characters.

Hambridge Summer Reading Bingo!

Well done to all of the children who took part in the summer reading bingo! They will all be presented with a certificate and their wonderful photos will be displayed in the library. From reading in the bath, to reading whilst eating an ice cream to following a recipe and making a den to read in. You all looked like you had a fun and fabulous time and please enjoy looking through the photos below.

Christopher from Bramley Class won a trophy for great attitude in his cricket club. Well done Chris!

Poetry Competition

Well done to all of the children who took part in the poetry competition and learnt one of their poems off by heart and performed them in class. We held the semi-finals on Monday and Mrs Chesterfield and Mr St John had the very difficult task of deciding on 2 winners from each key stage who will go through to the final on Tuesday and compete against children from other schools. Congratulations to our finalists: Flynn, Erin, Scarlett and Jack.

On Tuesday 4th May 2021, Hambridge took part in enjoyable workshops led by Carymoor Environmental Trust to raise awareness of recycling.

Women's History Month 2021

Yet again the children of Hambridge have risen to the challenge and blown us away with their efforts and skills! They have spent time researching and creating amazing projects to learn about and celebrate the achievements of women throughout history.  We have all learned so much about these amazing women, what it took for them succeed, and the impact their achievements have had on our lives today. Hopefully this will inspire all of us to pursue our dreams and know that anything is possible!

Global Recycling Day 2021

World Book Day 2021
We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day at school and at home.

Here are some of our amazing competition entries for the potato book characters. It was a very tough decision as all entries were fantastic, but the winners are:

Charlotte and George (pictured below with their mini egg prize!)

Everyone who entered has earned 5 house points for putting in such amazing effort.

Well done!
